The last weekend I went on a paddle trip to the blackwood river in the south of west australia. A guy from the Outdoor Club organized the trip. We started our trip at Sue’s bridge, a small camping site next to the river. After having a nice BBQ, fighting against possums and spending the night in tents we headed off the next morning: 6 orange kajaks, a kanu and one beautiful river! I shared my boat with a guy from Zimbabwe named Tristan, what gave us the kajak name T’n’T :-) The wheater was nice and sunny so actually a good reason to overturn the kajak and have a litte swim in the river. But unfortunately we carried all our gear and backpacks in the boat - even packed in lots of platicsbags I didn’t wanted them to fall into the water. Sometimes some rapids blocked our way, but no problem for T’n’T - we managed all of them and stayed nearly try! Real fun!
Our trip ended on sunday afternoon when we reached the next camping site. As some groupmembers had to work on monday they left quickly whereas the rest of us stayed for another night. Sunday was the 1. advent! Really unbeliveable! Of course we hadn’t no advent wreath, so we lighted a big campfire instead. Strange!?
On monday moring, after leaving the camping site quite late, we planed to visited a cave, but as it was too expensive we headed to the beach instead. There it was very nice and impressive waves, but unfotunately the sun kept hideing behind the clouds - so no real chance for swimming! Some of us tried to go kanu surfing and struggled with the unmanagable waves, others tried to catch some fishes. But again, as the day before, they were unsuccessful. The best part were some dolphins and wales in the end. Quite far away, but still good to see. Awesome! After a 3 hour drive I finally arrived back in Perth.

As it is getting colder and colder in Europe, it’s getting hotter and hotter in here! Last week temperatures rose higher than 30 C on some days - and that’s only the beginning! Uh, unbelievable. Sometimes I’m missing the golden autum and icy winter and am waiting for the cold days, as they are supposed to be at this time, well, yeah, but no chance! But going to the beach is great “excuse” :-)
Today, we went to Cottlesloe Beach nearby, after fighting with the waves we had some fish’n’chips and icecream! Yum! Check out gallery!
My room situation will change in the next week, I’ll move to another room in an small house north of the uni. It’s furniture! And close to trains, parks and cheap! Housemates seem to be quite nice, the first thing they did was offering a tea to me! Great!

Letzte Woche war ich mit Bernhard fuer zwei Naechtein Lancelin, ca. 150km noerdlich von Perth (Downtown) Surferparadies! Es dauerte fast eine Stunde bis wir aus der Stadt waren. Danach kommt dann nix mehr. Nur noch Busch und hin und wieder mal ne Farm oder ne kleine Siedlung. Schon komisch.

Lancelin ist nicht gerade besonders schoen, man koennte ja meinen ein schoenes altes Fischerdorf am Meer. Ha von wegen! Typisch australisch besteht aus ein paar Countryhaeuser, alle Strassen wieder im Quadrat und hin und wieder mal ein kleiner Shop.

Dafuer war der Beach super! Lange, weisse Straende, schoene Wellen. Habe mich mal wieder im Surfen versucht, hat aber noch nicht ganz so geklappt. Mittags waren wir dann Sandboarden! He, he reiner Tourigag! Nothing comperared to Snowboarding! Naja man kann da halt so zwei, drei Duenen runterruschen. Schon lustig, aber bald schnell ausgelutscht.

uebernachtet haben wir in Bernhards SuperVan. Das war ein Spass, ein richtiger Adventurebus, komplett mit Camping Equippment ausgeruestet. Ein Traum! Diesen hat er vor 3 Wochen gekauft und dann die Rostloescher beseitig und die tolle Bemalung verpasst. Er faehrt nun die naechsten 5 Wochen damit nach Sydney! Ach..

So wie sich in Deutschland der Sommer nicht richtig verabschieden will, ist es hier mit dem Winter. Mal haben wir super Sonne, warm und blauer Himmel, am naechsten Tag wieder kalt, windig und Regen. Das Wetter spielt verrueckt. Soviel wie jetzt hat es schon seit langem nicht mehr in Perth geregnet!
Aber die Aussies haben vorgesorgt. Ihr werdet es nicht glauben, aber selbst im Land der Sonnencreme und Ozonloecher gibt es Sonnenstudios. Gleich hier bei mir um die Ecke:

(Auch wenn es vielleicht nicht danach klingt, aber rechts daneben ist ein Schnellimbiss..) Wahnsinn, oder?

I just came back from THE HIVES - live concert in Perth Downtown (Metro City).

It was awesome - one of my biggest show ever.
Really good oldstyle Rock’n’Roll. My ears are still droneing. Yeah!
It was the last show of the “Tyrannosaurus Hives Tour” and so they gave thier best. Actually they finished playing all songs of the album within an hour, but after that the kept on play the old ones.

So, if you wanna hear some good Rock’n’Rock music, go and get them!

Today we had beautiful weather, so I went on an cycletour through Perth, especially the Kings Park next by. It’s the largest Park in the city, mostly austrailian bush, with some BBQ places and beautiful english lawn. I saw a lots of strange plants and animals, even parrots!! On the east side I got a wonderful view over Perth Downdown, Skyline and the Swan river. Watch out the pictures!

War gestern im Baummarkt und habe mein erstes, unverzeihliches ‘Moebelstueck’ gekauft:

Ein waschechter Campingstuhl fuer sage und schreibe 7.50$ also ca. 4,50 EUR. So, jetzt kann die BBQ season beginnen.

Da ich schon oefters nach Wetter und Zeit gefragt wurde hier mal ein paar Infos:

Jeden Tag 30 C und Abends schoen kuehl - gut zum sofortigen Einschlafen!!!

Hehe, nee leider (noch) nicht. Hier ist der Fruehling, vergleichbar mit unserem. Also schon recht sonnig, aber hin und wieder auch mal truebe und kalter Wind. Ich langer Hose, T-Shirt und eine Strickjacke. Viele findes es hier noch zu kalt. Aber das wird schon. Ende der Woche sollen die 20 C erreicht werden.

Der Zeitunterschied zu Deutschland betraegt zur Zeit +6 Stunden. Das wird sich aber wohl demnaechst aendern wenn die Uhr Winterzeit bzw. bei uns auf Sommerzeit umgestellt wird. Hm, dann muessten das 8 Stunden sein, oder!?

[UPDATE2] Also es gibt wohl doch keine Sommerzeit in Perth. In Australien schon, aber die Staaten Queensland (Brisbane), Western Australia (Perth) und das Northern Territory (Darwin) machen nicht mit. Somit +7 wenn Deutschland umstellt. (Link hierzu siehe unten)

Sonst bin ich hier so nach und nach am erkunden der Gegend. Es gibt hier noch
den Unisport und Outdoorclub. Habe ich jetzt mal ein paar Kurse belegt. Bin mal gespannt!

Es war echt sehr gut sofort ein Fahrrad zu kaufen. Es gibt hier sehr viele scoene “Bikelines”.

Also, ich hatte nicht gedacht dass es mir so scher faellt. LINKSVERKEHR!!
Klingt eigentlich nicht so schlimm, aber ich falle immer wieder drauf hinein:

Alle fahren Links, ich fang natuerlich an Rechts zu radeln und kann gerade noch Spur wechseln.
Der Bus faehrt auf der anderen Strassenseite ab! Ich habs verpeilt und mich an die falsche Bushalte gestellt.
Autorfahrer sitz rechts. Bloed, dass ich immer auf dieser Seite einsteigen will! (im Auto ist vieles gespiegelt, Kumplung, Bremese & Gas nicht, aber machmal sogar das Radio!!)
Fussgaenger werden auch Rechts ueberholt. Dumm, dass ich aber Links ueberholen wo alle vor Schreck hinspringen.
Das geht ja noch weiter: Selbst auf Rolltreppen wird Links gestanden und Rechts gelaufen! tztzt..

P.S: ‘Rechts vor Links’ gilt aber weiterhin, ausser bei T-Kreuzungen, da hat die durchgegehende Strasse (immer) Vorfahrt.

Kennt ihr noch das gute alte Computerspiel Command & Conquer?

“Sie sind so eben in Perth/Australia gelandet. Errichten Sie ein Lager sowie Infrastruktur fuer die naechsten 4 Monate. Backpackers wurden in Downtown gesichtet, freie Zimmer im Westen. Rechnen Sie mit Verstaerkung fruehstens am 10.10 um 10:00 Uhr in der UWA. Viel Glueck!”

So kam ich mir ungefaehr vor, als ich endlich nach 21 Stunden Reise in Perth gelandet bin. Mitten in der Nacht. überraschend kalt war es, war es doch in Bangkog ueber 30° C. Hatte aber meine Fleecejacke dabei!
Beim Flug von Bankog nach Perth sass ein netter Mann aus Thailand neber mir. Er ist mit seiner Family on Vacation.
Wir haben uns sehr gut verstanden, und so konnte ich mit ihm nach Downtown fahren um dort in einem Backpacker Hostel die restlichen 5 Stunden bis zum Morgen zu uebernachten.

So, und dann gings los:
ohne fruehstueck keine Motivation, ohne Motivation kein Fahrrad, ohne Fahrrad kein Zimmer, ohne Zimmer kein Bett, Handy, Internet… uahh!

Aber es hat dann dank meiner Command & Conquer Faehigkeiten (da soll noch einer was gegen Computerspiele sagen :-) recht gut geklappt. Gegen Abend hatte ich Fahrrad gekauft, Fish & Chips gegessen und ein Zimmer aufgetrieben. Leider ein kleines Problem: das Zimmer hat keine Moebel! Eine einfache Matratze konnte ich noch besorgen, so dass ich erstmal dableibe und mir Moebel oder doch ein anderes moebiliertes Zimmer suche.

Zum Haus:
Es ist ein (hier wohl typisches) Countryhouse. Also nur Erdgeschoss, dafuer viel Garten und gruen. ca 10min mit Fahrrad zu Uni, also Ideal. Mitbewohner sind ganz nett: Jules, 21jahre der Vermieter, hat hier sein Buero, macht was mit Computer. Honey aus Singapur 19j studiert und hat eine ultra hohe Stimme. Kerith(?) ca. 21j aus Aukland, eigentlich Bombay, studiert ebenfals an der University of Western Australia (UWA).

Jules hat mich dann gleich ins Pub zum ersten Aussie Bier eingladen. War gar nicht soo schlimm.. es ist sehr kalt! Dann hat er mich im Poolbilliard abgezockt. Ich fand das lag an dem kleinen Tisch mit Minitaschen, er meinte es liegt an seiner Erfahrung aus dem Billiardclub. Hm.

Ja, das war mein erster Tag in Perth. Hat schon mal gut angefangen, schaun was noch so kommt!
